Tim's Coyote Story

I found this story on WTHR today and thought I would post it in hopes of redeeming Tim. Everyone makes fun of his story about seeing a coyote on our front porch one night when he was pulling into the garage at 2am. I believe you, babe! :)
When we first moved into our house I saw 3 run along the berm in our backyard. I was in bed looking out our "yet to be curtained" windows and saw what looked like 3 scruffy dogs run along there just as the sun was coming up.

Our summer...

I feel like we've started our summer in a full sprint. Emma has already had her "get to know you" day at St. Michaels, which she enjoyed. She came out the car with a smile on her face telling me about getting popsicles and singing songs. I'm glad she had that so she can have all summer to think about how Kindergarten is going to be. She likes to ponder things for a while.
Starting next week we have swim lessons for 2 weeks. The class is in the morning at our public outdoor pool. Brrrr! I imagine it might be a character building class, too. You couldn't pay me to get in a cold pool these days! They'll survive. Plus, I wanted to get it in before we go to Gulf Shores.
Em & Soph start summer dance classes next week also. This will be Emma's third class, but Soph's first so she's really excited about that. I like the summer sessions because it's only 7 wks long vs an entire semester.
Last but not least, they both have gymnastics class. I asked if Soph could be moved to the 4/5 year old class so she and Emma could go at the same time, which means we are only at the gym for an hour. So much better for me and Lily! They are changing things up with the gym classes to where the kids will learn small routines and have "competitions" four times a year. It's great because it's one of those where everyone wins at this age. They'll love it!
Oh and yes, we are so ready for our beach vacation in a few weeks. The girls are already telling me things to add to our packing list. My Uncle Bill is letting us borrow his full size van to drive down there. It's will be like driving a living room on wheels...so nice. Very excited to be able to use that. It will make the drive SO much better! It has a DVD player so I imagine we'll just have a Disney Movie Marathon on the way there. That's it for now....

Emma's tooth

Emma pulled out one of her upper teeth over the weekend. It was pretty gross looking at first because she had pulled it out just about a third of the way so it looked larger than the one beside it. It was crooked, too! Thank goodness she finally twisted it around she said and it came out. I think she was a bit surprised by it. I was afraid I was going to have to call the dentist.
She has a huge gap now and looks pretty funny, but much older. I'll have to post a photo of her tomorrow when she's awake. We told her it was a good time to lose it so the new one will be ready for sweet corn this summer.

So many books...

I have a ton of books I want to read this summer. Here's my list so far:
The Red Queen
Dreams of Joy
The Help
Founding Brothers (thanks, Dad)
Wealth & Poverty (again thanks, Dad)
The Constant Princess
Freakonomics (thanks, Liz. I still have it here)
Pillars of the Earth
The World is Flat

Now I just need to figure out how to stay awake at night to read. Check back at the end of summer to see how I did. I wouldn't bet too much on it, but here's to hoping! :)

Dad's plane at Greensburg Airport

A tornado, hail and very high winds hit Greensburg last week. The doors along the entire side of dad's hangar were blown in. His plane was pushed back into the hangar which bent the flap on one side. One of the strobe light covers was broken as well. The prop wasn't damaged, though. It just cut through the door as you can see. Overall, it's all fixable. Thank goodness...and no one was hurt in Greensburg that night.

Friday

{Richie with his oldest daughter Erin}
This is a photo of Adam's and my baptism day. The guy in the rocking chair is my dad's best friend, Richie, who sadly passed away last Saturday after a long battle with cancer. I went to the visitation with my dad and it seemed to hit me harder than I expected it to. My parents and some of his U of Dayton college friends got together all the time when we were all babies. We would have cookouts, meet at a park for picnics & camp...no elaborate parties or babysitters, just good times with good friends. I really have no specific memories of those get togethers because I was so little, but every time I look at the photos I have an overwhelming sense of love and friendship that I hope to pass on to this generation. Richie was a great man who loved his family and friends passionately. He will be missed so much.
Not sure if they actually played the game. I think they just played with the little pieces for a while.
