Last week we loaded up the car, and I mean LOADED, and headed to Gulf Shores, AL for our summer beach trip. Mom/Nana came with us, which the girls just loved, especially Emma. Our condo was right on the beach...so convienient for bathroom/snacktime/naptime. We could take turns staying in the condo with whoever was napping or just needed to get out of the sun. Emma loved the ocean at first until she got stung by something. We think a jellyfish, since we saw tons of them. To hear her tell the story it was a pretty big deal. I will add that she only had two tiny, tiny red dots on her ankle. But, by Friday Tim convinced her to go back into the ocean to look for mermaids and catch fish. She was really into Ariel-singing the title song the whole week and only wearing her Ariel swimsuit, using her Ariel towel and playing with her Ariel dolls.
Sophie was not a huge fan of the beach. Too hot and not a lot for her to do there. Since she is crawling non-stop at lightening speed, she didn't want to stay on the beach blanket in the shade. Maybe next year she'll have more fun. The drives there and back proved much more grueling than anticipated. We were very glad to be home in our own beds, even at 4am. Overall, the trip was a wonderful family trip...great time with our beautiful girls, great food and lots of fun.
